SunSirs: Waste Paper and Corrugated Paper Stopped Falling and Explored Upward
April 11 2023 13:58:56SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of waste paper in Zhejiang Province was on the rise this week. On April 7th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow cardboard in Zhejiang Province was 1,550 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.97% compared to the average price of 1,520 RMB/ton on April 2nd. The price of corrugated paper rebounded, with an average ex factory price of 140g corrugated base paper on April 7th of 2,748 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.73% compared to the average price of 2,728 RMB/ton on April 2nd.

Analysis review

By observing market changes, it can be seen that domestic waste paper prices stopped falling and rebounded this week, with a slight upward trend in prices. With the gradual consumption of paper inventory in paper mills, production had been strengthened, with most paper mills increasing by 20-30 RMB/ton. As some of the paper mills were shut down in the early stages and returned to production, the paper mills raised the price of waste paper in order to increase the arrival volume of waste paper.

In terms of corrugated base paper prices, there was an increase in corrugated paper prices this week. On the last day of March, Jiulong Paper Industry reported a price increase, with some paper varieties from its three major production bases in Dongguan, Quanzhou, and Tianjin expected to increase by 50 RMB/ton in early April. This news undoubtedly released a bullish signal to the downstream market, followed by second and third tier paper mills, which brought some market confidence to employees in the paper and waste paper industries.

Market outlook

SunSirs paper analysts believe that in April, waste paper and corrugated paper experienced their first price increase test, which ushered in new developments and changes in the direction of paper prices. However, it remains to be seen to what extent and how long this increase will last. It is expected that the prices of waste paper and corrugated paper will continue to remain low in the short term.
