According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of activated charcoal at the beginning of the month was 12,333 RMB/ton, and at the end of the month it was 12,533 RMB/ton, with a price increase of 1.62%.

Analysis review

Domestic activated charcoal manufacturers have seen some price increases this month, but most have remained stable. The ex factory price of coconut shell activated charcoal for water purification is between 10,000-13,500 RMB/ton. The demand for coconut shell activated charcoal in traditional fields such as water treatment and air purification continues to grow, and the market supply is tight. Industry insiders are mostly optimistic about the future market.

Internationally, 95% of coconut shell carbonization materials rely on imports. Southeast Asia, as the main source of coconut shells worldwide, encountered multiple natural disasters in 2024: Thailand  experienced a reduction in coconut production due to drought and pest infestations, and some production areas in Indonesia was affected by abnormal rainfall at the end of the rainy season, resulting in a decrease in coconut shell collection efficiency and supporting price increases.

Market outlook

The supply of activated charcoal in the domestic and international markets is tight, and it is expected that the price of activated charcoal will mainly fluctuate with a stronger trend in the short term.
