According to the commodity price analysis system of SunSirs, the price of activated charcoal was 12,833 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month and 12,766 RMB/ton at the end of the month, representing a price decrease of 0.52%.

Market Analysis

Domestic activated charcoal manufacturers' prices were weak this month. The ex-factory price of coconut shell activated charcoal for water purification (iodine value 1,000) ranged from 11,000 to 13,500 RMB/ton. The mainstream ex-factory price (including tax) for iodine value 800 was approximately 9,500 RMB/ton, while iodine value 900 was quoted at 9,800-10,200 RMB/ton.  Market demand was weak due to the off-season, and companies were adjusting production based on sales. Raw material supply remained stable.

As of December 30, factory inventories were generally at 30-40%, with orders scheduled until January, and some extending into February. Demand from downstream industries such as water purification and food processing remained stable, with no concentrated purchasing surges, thus limiting price increases. The high price of coconut shell activated charcoal was limiting transaction activity. According to customs data, China's activated charcoal exports in November totaled 33,800 tons, a 36% increase year-on-year and a 24% increase month-on-month.

Market Outlook:

Domestic transactions of coconut shell activated charcoal fell short of expectations. However, due to cost support, the downside potential is limited. It is expected that activated charcoal prices will mainly fluctuate in the short term.
