According to monitoring data from the SunSirs commodity price analysis system: the price of Activated charcoal was 12,800 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week, and rose to 12,833 RMB/ton by the end of the week, an increase of 0.26%.

Analysis and Commentarys

Domestic prices for coconut shell activated charcoal rose this week. The ex-factory price of coconut shell activated charcoal for water purification in East China ranged from 9,500 to 13,000 RMB/ton.  Columnar coal-based activated charcoal with an iodine value of around 1a000 was priced at 8a200-9a500 RMB/ton. Demand for coconut shell activated charcoal is strong in areas such as water treatment, air purification, and sodium-ion batteries. This, coupled with extended shipping times, increased warehousing costs, and stricter environmental regulations driving up import costs, is supporting the price increase..

Southeast Asian countries, major producers of coconuts, have been affected by natural disasters and policy changes, leading to a shortage of coconut shell charcoal. This has caused an increase in the price of coconut shell charcoal. From January 2026, coconut shell charcoal is classified as a hazardous material, significantly increasing transportation, packaging, and storage costs, which is expected to further impact the price of end products.

Market Outlook 

Due to tight supply of domestic coconut shell activated charcoal raw materials and increasing costs, activated charcoal prices are expected to fluctuate at high levels in the short term.
