SunSirs: Recently, the TDI Market Had Experienced a Rise Followed by a Decline
January 18 2024 14:56:09SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the TDI price in East China had recently risen first and then fallen. On January 16th, the average market price in East China was 16,800 RMB/ton, an increase of 100 RMB/ton compared to the price of 16,700 RMB/ton on January 8th, an increase of 0.60%.

Analysis review

Recently, the domestic TDI market had experienced a rise followed by a decline, with price ranges fluctuating. The filling of factory spot goods was slow, and the trading market was observing the guidance of supplier news. Earlier last week, Shanghai Kesichuang TDI executed a price increase, and the prices of holders followed suit. However, downstream follow-up was limited, and the demand in the terminal market was insufficient. The supplier's mentality was limited, and the mentality of the operators was not good. Under the supply-demand game, the TDI price slightly decreased in the later stage.

The upstream toluene market had slightly increased. On January 16th, the domestic average price of toluene was around 6,710 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.45% compared to the price of 6,680 RMB/ton on January 8th. The international crude oil prices had fluctuated and risen, with good support from the cost and external prices of toluene. The price of toluene in Asia had rebounded, while domestic production had slightly decreased. The pressure on toluene supply had been alleviated, and downstream demand for toluene was just in demand. The support for toluene was average, and the toluene market had slightly increased.

Market outlook

TDI data analysts from SunSirs believe that domestic TDI spot filling was slow, factories had a positive attitude towards the market, and holders were actively shipping. However, market trading was limited, and downstream purchases followed up on demand. There was a lack of positive demand, resulting in a stalemate between supply and demand in the market. TDI price fluctuations were limited. Considering that there was a stock demand in the downstream before the holiday, it is expected that the TDI market will slightly increase in the future. Specific attention should be paid to downstream purchases and the release of market news from suppliers.
