SunSirs: Negative Factors Increased, and the Trend of CPL Declined (April 15-24)
April 26 2024 15:27:42SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the average market price of CPL in China on April 24th was 12,975 RMB/ton, which was a decrease of 2.17% compared to the average market price of 13,262 RMB/ton on April 15th.

Analysis review

Recently, the market price of CPL had been continuously declining. The price of raw material pure benzene had increased, leading to increased cost support. Maintenance of CPL units in some enterprises had led to a decrease in market supply. Downstream procurement demand was weak, with low price transactions being the main focus. As of April 24th, the weekly settlement price of Sinopec’s high-quality liquid CPL was 13,600 RMB/ton.

Cost side

Raw material pure benzene market: Recently, the price of pure benzene had slightly increased. As of April 24th, the reference price for pure benzene was 8,750.50 RMB/ton, while the price for Sinopec pure benzene was 8,800 RMB/ton. (Price synchronization in Shandong and Hebei regions)

Demand side

Downstream PA6 market: Recently, the domestic PA6 market had continued to decline, with most spot prices being lowered. The load of domestic polymerization plants was stable and small, and terminal enterprises were in urgent need of stocking up. Some May Day reserve warehouse demand was gradually being released. As of April 24th, the reference price for domestic PA6 was 14,712.50 RMB/ton.

Supply side

Recently, some CPL units had resumed maintenance, leading to an increase in spot market supply and weakened supply side support. The situation of oversupply in the market had increased.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ CPL Analysts believe that the recent trend of CPL market had declined. The cost pressure was high, and the supply and demand side was weak. The game between cost and supply and demand increased the negative factors. It is expected that the short-term market trend of CPL will continue to decline.
