SunSirs: Demand is not Improving, and Cement Prices in East China are falling
July 06 2023 13:48:39SunSirs(Selena)

According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the cement market in East China has been weak recently. The price at the beginning of this week was 342.00 RMB/ton, and at the weekend was 340.00 RMB/ton, down 0.58%, down 6.08% month on month, and down 10.99% year on year.

Recently, cement prices have declined in some parts of East China. From the above chart, it can be seen that the cement market has been mainly declining in the past three months, and prices have continued to bottom out this week. Around July 4th, cement prices in Jiangsu, Wuxi, and other places decreased by 5-10 RMB/ton. Currently, the cement market is in a hot off-season, and the slump in the real estate industry has exacerbated the inventory pressure on cement enterprises, resulting in fierce market competition. In order to increase the shipment volume, some manufacturers have led the price decline, and the cement market is constantly bottoming out.

Recently, the price of steam coal has fluctuated and consolidated. In terms of origin, the coal mines in the production area maintain normal production, and the coal supply side is relatively stable. Currently, state-owned large mines are actively ensuring supply, and the supply is basically maintained in a relatively loose state. Traders tend to have a cautious wait-and-see attitude, and the procurement pace has slowed down. The prices of coal mines with good sales in their production areas have started to rise, boosting the market. It is expected that there may still be upward potential for the price of thermal coal in the later stage, but the downstream acceptance is limited and the upward potential may not be significant, depending on the downstream market demand.

Downstream funding issues are still ongoing, and demand recovery is poor. Specifically, the marginal investment in real estate has weakened again and is still bottoming out in the short term, with weak support for the cement market.

According to the prediction of SunSirs, in the near future, the cement market in East China has a high inventory, the market competition is extremely fierce, and the current situation of weak market demand is difficult to improve in the short term. Therefore, SunSirs cement product analysts believe that in the short term, the cement market is mainly down.
