According to customs statistics, China's steel exports reached 10.47 million tons in September 2025, marking a 10.1% month-on-month increase and a 3.6% year-on-year rise. Cumulative steel exports from January to September totaled 87.96 million tons, up 9.2% year-on-year.
On the import side, steel imports in September 2025 totaled 550,000 tons, marking a 10.0% increase month-on-month but a 1.0% decrease year-on-year, with the decline narrowing by 0.8 percentage points compared to the previous month. Cumulative steel imports from January to September reached 4.53 million tons, down 12.6% year-on-year.
Overall, China's steel exports continued to grow year-on-year in September 2025, surpassing the 10-million-ton threshold for the first time in three months.
