Data released by China's General Administration of Customs on January 18 showed that China exported 11.3 million tons of steel in December 2025, up 16.2% from the same period last year. From January to December 2025, total exports amounted to 119.02 million tons, a 7.5% year-on-year increase.
China's December 2025 exports of steel plates reached 6.65 million tons, a 10.8% year-on-year increase. Exports from January to December 2025 totaled 73.09 million tons, a 2.1% year-on-year decrease.
China's December 2025 exports of steel wire rods reached 280,000 tons, a 17.5% year-on-year increase. From January to December 2025, exports totaled 2.96 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.1%.
China's steel imports in December 2025 reached 520,000 tons, a year-on-year decline of 16.7%. From January to December 2025, imports totaled 6.06 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 11.1%.
