According to data from SunSirs, the price of seamless tubes first fell and then rose last week. As of the weekend, the price of 20 #, 108 * 4.5 seamless tubes was quoted at 4,055 RMB/ton, unchanged from the beginning of the week and down 10.68% year-on-year.

Analysis review

Last week, the market price of tube billets had slightly increased, and the factory price of 20 # hot-rolled tube billets was 3,180-3,310 RMB/ton. Affected by production restrictions and maintenance of some steel mills, market prices rebounded and confidence rebounded.

The inventory in the seamless tube factory was 642,500 tons, a decrease of 5,300 tons from last week. Due to the news of production restrictions in Tangshan, the overall upward trend in the upstream market had resumed. Many tube manufacturers and traders were temporarily adopting a wait-and-see attitude, with only small batch purchases being the main focus. Although the market atmosphere had improved, overall transactions were still limited, and steel traders were cautious about stockpiling, resulting in a slight decrease in tube factory inventory.

Market outlook

As of July 4th, there was no clear reduction in production by steel mills, and the actual effect of production restrictions remained to be observed, depending on the specific promotion effect. In addition, the market still faced the reality of high temperatures, rainy season, and shrinking demand, and it still needed to return to fundamentals after news hyped.
