Price trend

According to monitoring data from SunSirs, the overall downward trend of caustic soda in June. At the beginning of the month, the average price of caustic soda in Shandong region was 885 RMB/ton. At the end of the month, the price of caustic soda in Shandong region was 835 RMB/ton, a decrease of 5.65% and an increase of 5.16% compared to the same period last year.

On June 29th, the SunSirs’ Chemical Index was 784 points, unchanged from the previous day, down 44.00% from the highest point of 1,400 points during the cycle (October 23, 2021), and up 31.10% from the lowest point of 598 points on April 8, 2020. Analysis review

According to survey data from SunSirs, the overall price of caustic soda was declining. The price of caustic soda in Shandong region was around 760-850 RMB/ton in the mainstream market of 32% ion-exchange membrane alkali. The price of caustic soda in Jiangsu region was stable, with a mainstream market price of 870-950 RMB/ton in 32% ion-exchange membrane alkali. The price of caustic soda in Inner Mongolia region was temporarily stable, with a mainstream market price of 2,700-2,800 RMB/ton (converted to 100%) in 32% ion-exchange membrane alkali. This month, the price of caustic soda declined, with no significant fluctuations in the supply side of Shandong region. Alumina was mostly purchased on demand, and non aluminum deliveries were clearly cautious. The main downstream procurement prices were lowered, and there was no positive support for caustic soda prices.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ analysts believe that recently, the price of caustic soda was weak, and downstream demand in China was average. The overall inventory level of enterprises was not high, The demand enthusiasm was average, and there was a supply-demand game. It is expected that caustic soda will maintain a consolidating market in the later stage, depending on downstream market demand.
