According to the latest data from China Customs, in December 2025, China's caustic soda imports totaled 0.076 million tons; of which, solid caustic soda imports amounted to 0.07 million tons, and liquid caustic soda imports reached 0.006 million tons. China's caustic soda exports totaled 36.9 million tons; of which, solid caustic soda exports were 5.94 million tons, and liquid caustic soda exports were 30.96 million tons.
In 2025, China's cumulative caustic soda imports reached 8,900 metric tons, a year-on-year decrease of 45.1%. This included 8,500 metric tons of solid caustic soda and 400 metric tons of liquid caustic soda. China's cumulative caustic soda exports reached 4.1011 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 33.6%. Among these, cumulative solid caustic soda exports amounted to 671,500 tons, up 42.1% year-on-year, while cumulative liquid caustic soda exports totaled 3.4296 million tons, rising 32.1% year-on-year.
In 2025, the top five export destinations for China's liquid caustic soda were Indonesia (38.3%), Australia (37.4%), Taiwan, China (7.3%), the United Arab Emirates (3.0%), and Papua New Guinea (2.9%). The top five export destinations for solid caustic soda will be Vietnam (10.5%), Uzbekistan (7.9%), Indonesia (7.5%), Kazakhstan (6.1%), and Ghana (4.8%).
