SunSirs: The Seamless Tube Market Saw a Slight Increase This Week (December 4-8)
December 12 2023 12:16:00SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to data from SunSirs, the price of seamless tubes had slightly increased this week. As of the weekend, the price of seamless tubes for 20# and 108 * 4.5 was quoted at 4,620 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.22% from the beginning of the week and a year-on-year decrease of 4.05%.

Analysis review

Upstream: This week, raw material prices had risen again, with tube billets rising by 30-70 RMB/ton, and the cost of seamless tubes had significantly increased.

This week, some tube factories underwent maintenance, resulting in a decrease in production compared to last week. The price increase this week was mainly driven by costs, and the market mentality was average. This week, black series futures were initially suppressed and then rose, and the market sentiment was unstable. However, with strong support from macro news and cost side, as well as a slight increase in the number of orders received by some tube factories, some tube factory quotations were raised at any time, and steel traders were passively slightly rising, but their enthusiasm for buying goods was significantly low. As the temperature continued to decrease, demand was gradually weakening, and most businesses had a strong willingness to go out of stock. In most regions, transactions were mainly made at low prices, and some businesses had increased their discount efforts to promote shipments. However, the overall trading atmosphere in the market was still average.

Market outlook

Overall, the supply-demand contradiction remained unchanged, while cost support was strong. It is expected that the price of seamless tubes will fluctuate at a high level next week.
