Supported by the sharp rise in raw materials in October, the domestic market price of chloroform rose sharply. According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of chloroform in Shandong at the beginning of October was 4,187 RMB/ton, and the price at the end of the month was 6,200 RMB/ton, which was an increase of 48.06% from the beginning of the month.

Analysis review   

In October, the prices of raw material methanol and liquid chlorine rose first and then fell. According to SunSirs, as of October 31, the price of methanol was 3,350 RMB/ton, a decrease of 7.27% from the price of 3,612 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month; The mainstream ex-factory price of liquid chlorine for tank trucks in Shandong was around 2,000 RMB/ton, an increase of 17.65% from the price of 1,700 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month, and a decrease of 51.22% from the month’s highest point of 4,100 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

The chloroform analysts of SunSirs believe that the start of the methane chloride plant in October had rebounded slightly from September, but the industry’s start was still not high, and there was no pressure on the supply of chloroform. At present, the prices of methanol and liquid chlorine all have a tendency to rise and then fall, and cost support has weakened; comprehensively speaking, chloroform may fall slightly in the short term.
