Price trend

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of March 20th, the average market price of meta phenylenediamine was 37,166.67 RMB/ton, which remained unchanged from last week.

Cost side

Pure benzene: The price of pure benzene in China had slightly increased this week. On March 20th, the price of pure benzene was 8,573.17 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.96% from last week and 17.77% from the same period last year. The East China market negotiable price declined, with mixed ups and downs. There were few spot transactions and sufficient downstream inventory, creating a wait-and-see atmosphere.

Nitric acid: The domestic price of nitric acid had slightly decreased this week. On March 20th, the price of nitric acid was 1,790 RMB/ton, and on March 13th, it was 1,833 RMB/ton, a decrease of 2.32% from last week and 26.78% from the same period last year. As of March 20th, the market continued to be weak, and manufacturers were shipping according to the market.

Downstream

This week, resorcinol had been running smoothly and there had been no improvement in demand. The downstream market for dyes and pharmaceutical intermediates was slightly calm.

Market outlook

Overall, some domestic meta phenylenediamine units had been shut down for renovation, resulting in tight market supply and weak demand for downstream dyes, pesticide intermediates, and other products. It is expected that the market for meta phenylenediamine will temporarily stabilize and consolidate.
