According to the commodity analysis system of SunSirs, the price of flake caustic soda was weak and consolidating this week. At the beginning of the week, the average market price in Shandong was 3,416.67 RMB/ton, and the average market price over the weekend was 3,383.33 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.98%, and a decrease of 29.02% compared to the same period last year.

On January 11th, the energy index was 1013 points, a decrease of 5 points from the previous day, a decrease of 35.11% from the highest point in the cycle of 1,561 points (2021-10-21), and an increase of 98.24% from the lowest point of 511 points on March 1st, 2016. Upstream caustic soda

According to the commodity analysis system of SunSirs, the price of caustic soda was weak this week, with an average market price of around 788 RMB/ton at the beginning of the week and 782 RMB/ton on the weekend, a price drop of 0.76%, and a decrease of 18.91% compared to the same period last year. The price of caustic soda in Shandong region was temporarily stable, with a mainstream market price of around 730-800 RMB/ton for 32% ion exchange membrane caustic soda. The price of caustic soda in Jiangsu region was temporarily stable, with a mainstream market price of around 760-860 RMB/ton for 32% ion exchange membrane caustic soda.

Market outlook

SunSirs’ analysts believe that this week's weak consolidation of flake caustic soda prices had weakened the actual trading atmosphere compared to the previous period, and downstream market entry enthusiasm was cautious. The supply-demand gamed, taking a comprehensive view, suggests that the price of caustic soda may remain weak and consolidating in the short term, depending on downstream market demand.
