SunSirs: Rising Demand, Egg Prices in China is Rising
September 08 2023 10:08:49SunSirs(Selena)

According to the monitoring of the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the egg price was 10.90 RMB/kg at the beginning of this week, and 11.27 RMB/kg at the end of this week. The price increased by 3.39%, and the price decreased by 1.97% compared to the same period last year.

From the demand side, the recent egg market is strong, and traders' enthusiasm is high. Influenced by the Mid-Autumn Festival, there is a certain demand for stock in the downstream links such as supermarkets and e-commerce. The newly opened laying hens in September are the chicken seedlings that were supplemented from April to May this year. From April to May, the breeding units have a high enthusiasm for supplementing, and the number of chicken seedlings increased by 0.21% month on month.

In terms of eliminating chickens, based on the average age of 520 days of eliminated chickens, it is estimated that the theoretically eliminated laying hens in September are the chicks that were replenished before and after April 2022. Due to the impact of feed costs, the enthusiasm of breeding units for replenishing chickens in April 2022 is not high. Therefore, the number of eliminated chickens in September may be limited, and the theoretical value of the expected inventory of laying hens in September is 1.202 billion.

The supply side is loose, coupled with a gradual decrease in the purchasing volume of food factories, and it is expected that egg prices will continue to rise without sufficient momentum. It is expected that egg prices may mainly fluctuate at high levels.
