The latest data from the General Administration of Customs shows that in June 2023, China imported 30.018 million tons of steam coal (including lignite, bituminous coal and Sub-bituminous coal, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 137.24% and a month on month decrease of 4.35%.
From January to June 2023, China imported 167 million tons of thermal coal, an increase of 82.5024 million tons or 98.16% year-on-year.
In June 2023, China imported 12.199 million tons of lignite, an increase of 39.35% year-on-year and a decrease of 12.42% month on month.
From January to June 2023, China imported a total of 834.15 billion tons of lignite, an increase of 32.994 million tons year-on-year or 65.44%.
