SunSirs: Chinese Rapeseed Oil Supply is Expected to be Sufficient Before The Fourth Quarter of 2025

The new supply of rapeseed in China for the 2025/2026 marketing year is 19.6 million tons, including 17.1 million tons of production and 2.5 million tons of imports. The domestic import and crushing volume of rapeseed is highly affected by the domestic production and imports, and the domestic supply of rapeseed oil is expected to be sufficient before the fourth quarter of this year.

On August 20th, the 2025 China (Zhengzhou) International Futures Forum, jointly sponsored by the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group, officially opened. At the agricultural products (oilseeds) forum held in the afternoon, Vice President Wang ZhaoHui of COFCO Oilseeds delivered a keynote speech on the risks and coping methods faced by the domestic rapeseed oil and peanut oil market under the changing supply and demand pattern.

In the rapeseed oil market, Wang Zhaoyun predicts that China's new supply of rapeseed will increase by 19.6 million tons in the 2025/2026 marketing year, including 17.1 million tons of production and 2.5 million tons of imports. In the peanut oil market, Zhao Wang Hui introduced that according to the data of the National Grain and Oil Center, in the 2024/2025 marketing year, China's peanut production increased by 400,000 tons, and edible consumption and crushing demand increased by 100,000 tons and 300,000 tons respectively compared to the previous year. However, due to the contraction of imports, the carryover inventory for the year dropped to a low level. In terms of the new crop, currently, peanuts are in a critical growth period, and in the future, it is necessary to focus on the growth of peanuts, weather conditions during the harvesting period, the yield of the new crop, and import situations.
