SunSirs: Live Pig Prices Continued to Rise This Week (April 18-22)
April 25 2022 09:50:06SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of SunSirs, the price of ternary live pigs at home and abroad continued to rise this week. The average price at the beginning of the week was 12.50 RMB/kg, and the average price at the weekend was 13.68 RMB/kg, an increase of 9.44% during the week.

Analysis review

In late April, the competition between supply and demand in the domestic live pig market became more intense. The persistently low pig price induced farmers to be reluctant to sell at a low price and the supply of live pigs in the market continued to decline. The tight market supply coupled with farmers' reluctance to sell at a low price supported the sustained and comprehensive recovery of domestic pig prices. On April 22, the average price of ternary pigs was 13.68 RMB/kg, up 11.86% from the beginning of the month.

This week, domestic corn prices were high and strong, rising slightly by 0.21% during the week. Domestic soybean meal prices fluctuated and fell, and fell by 3.71% during the week. The cost of breeding and feeding was still high. Although the price of pigs had rebounded to a certain extent, the domestic pig-grain ratio was still low, and the pig breeding industry was still in deep loss.

Market outlook

The pig product analyst of SunSirs believes that: the reluctance to sell at low prices and the phased tight supply support the continuous recovery of domestic pig prices. On the whole, the terminal meat demand is still sluggish, and the room for continued recovery of pig prices is limited.
