According to the monitoring of the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of corrugated paper has shown an upward trend this week. On August 7, 2025, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated paper was 2,592 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.78% compared to the average price on August 1.
In terms of upstream raw materials: Recently, the price of waste paper in Zhejiang region has continued to rise, and the price of waste paper in domestic paper mills has also maintained an upward trend. On August 7, 2025, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow board paper in Zhejiang region was 1,592 RMB/ton, an increase of 2.18% compared to the average price on August 1. Recently, with the frequent impact of high temperatures and rainy weather, the recycling and trading of waste yellow cardboard have been relatively weak, resulting in a decrease in the supply of waste paper in the market. As the inventory of waste paper in the paper mill decreases, there is a demand expectation for waste paper, so the paper mill raises the price of waste paper to increase the amount of waste paper received.
Supply side: Recently, some paper mills in the northern region have announced plans to shut down for maintenance, resulting in a decrease in production in some areas and a slight decline in production, which has slightly eased the pressure on corrugated paper supply. But recently, the cost of raw material waste yellow cardboard has continued to rise slightly, putting pressure on paper companies' costs, and profits may further shrink.
On the demand side: Currently, downstream packaging companies are replenishing their inventory appropriately, while paper companies have slightly improved their shipments. Recently, with multiple cardboard factories announcing price increases, it has boosted market confidence and provided some bottom support for corrugated paper prices. However, the supply-demand contradiction in the market is still quite obvious, but with the strengthening of cost support and the rise of large-scale paper mills, there is still a narrow upward expectation for prices.
According to the paper analysts of SunSirs, there is still a period of time before the Mid-Autumn Festival peak season, and there is no obvious improvement in terminal consumption. The downstream packaging enterprises mainly temporarily replenish the stock, so the sharp rise is low. It is expected that the short-term corrugated paper price will be slightly stronger.
