SunSirs: Supply and Demand Gamed, CPL Was Sorting out at High Levels (August 7-11)
August 15 2023 10:47:00SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the average market price of domestic liquid CPL on August 7th was 12,987 RMB/ton, and on August 11th, the average market price of domestic liquid CPL was 13,100 RMB/ton. The price of CPL was increased by 0.87% this week.

Analysis review

This week, the market price of CPL was operating at a high level with slight fluctuations. The price of pure benzene, the raw material, was increased, providing support on the cost side. Some maintenance devices had been restored, and market supply increased. Downstream follow-up was slow, and demand performance was poor. Under loose supply conditions, the spot price of CPL began to decline. As of August 11th, the delivery price of Shandong Hualu Hengsheng CPL Liquid to East China was 13,000 RMB/ton. Sinopec's high-end CPL liquid premium products had a self delivered settlement price of 13,600 RMB/ton.

The price of raw material pure benzene slightly increased this week. On August 7th, the price of pure benzene was 7,675 RMB/ton. On August 11th, the price of pure benzene was 7,800 RMB/ton, an increase of 1.66% compared to last week and a decrease of 4.38% compared to the same period last year. This week, the price of Sinopec pure benzene rose to 7,750 RMB/ton (with prices in Shandong and Hebei regions simultaneously increasing by 150 RMB/ton).

Market outlook

According to CPL analysts from SunSirs, the recent price trend of raw material pure benzene was relatively stronger, with strong cost support. However, there was an increase in supply side spot goods and weaker terminal demand. Under the supply and demand game, it is expected that the price of CPL will mainly be volatile and weaker in the short term.
