SunSirs: Pig Prices hit the Bottom and Rebounded in China in July
August 04 2023 10:09:25SunSirs(Selena)

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the average price of Sanyuan live pigs at home and abroad hit the bottom and rebounded in July. On July 1st, the average price was 13.77 RMB/kg, and on July 31st, the average price was 15.63 RMB/kg, an increase of 13.51% within the month.

In July, the domestic pig price fell to the 14 RMB/kg mark, and the pig to grain ratio dropped to less than 5:1. The country will launch the second batch of frozen meat storage. Supported by policy news, the overall domestic pig market price rebounded slightly at the beginning of the month. Due to the continued weak demand in the terminal meat market due to the hot weather, domestic pig prices fell again in the middle of the month. After the pig price dropped further to the 14 yuan/kg mark within the month, the collection and storage of frozen meat began, and farmers' reluctance to sell and support prices became stronger. In addition, the typhoon weather brought a lot of rainfall, and the high temperature and rainy weather to some extent affected the export of live pigs. The overall supply in the live pig market was tight, and pig prices rebounded significantly at the end of the month.

In July, domestic corn prices remained stable and advanced, with a slight increase of 0.41% during the month. Soybean meal prices fluctuated and rose, with an increase of 11.17% during the month. Overall, the cost of breeding and feeding continues to be high, which will form a strong bottom support for future pig prices.

SunSirs Pig Product Analysts believe that in the short term, high temperatures and rainy weather have made it more difficult to transport pigs abroad. With favorable policies and farmers' reluctance to sell at high prices, the phased supply shortage in the pig market has helped push domestic pig prices to bottom out and rebound. Overall, the demand in the terminal meat market is still sluggish. It is expected that pig prices will continue to rise in August without sufficient momentum, and the overall trend of pig prices will gradually stabilize to 16 RMB/kg before overall fluctuations move forward.
