SunSirs: EIA: US Oil and Gas Production in March is Expected to Hit a Record High
February 14 2023 09:45:29()

According to foreign news on February 13, the United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its monthly drilling productivity report on Monday that the crude oil and natural gas production of the seven largest shale oil basins in the United States is expected to rise to the highest level in March.

EIA said that shale oil production in the region is expected to increase by about 75000 barrels per day, reaching a record of 9.36 million barrels per day.

The total production of the Permian basins in Texas and New Mexico, the largest shale oil producer in the United States, is also expected to increase by 29000 barrels per day in March to a record high of 5.68 million barrels per day.

In North Dakota and Bakken, Montana, oil production is expected to increase by 21000 barrels per day to 1.2 million barrels per day in March, the highest level since December 2020.

The crude oil production in the Eagle Ford region in southern Texas will increase by 3800 barrels per day to 1.18 million barrels per day in March, the highest level since April 2020.

**Natural gas**

EIA also predicted that the total natural gas production of large shale oil basins will increase by about 400 million cubic feet per day in March, reaching a record of 96.6 billion cubic feet per day.

In Appalachia, the largest shale gas basin in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, production will increase to 35.1 billion cubic feet per day in March, the highest since September 2022.

The production of natural gas in Appalachia hit a record high of 36.2 billion cubic feet per day last December.

In the Permian Basin and Haynesville in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, natural gas production will rise to a record high of 22.2 billion cubic feet per day and 16.6 billion cubic feet per day respectively in March.

The natural gas production in Appalachia is expected to increase. Even in the past 24 months, the natural gas production of each new well is decreasing.

EIA said that the production of each new natural gas well in Appalachia is expected to fall to 24.6 million cubic feet per day by March, the lowest since June 2020.

The production of each new natural gas well in Appalachia reached a record high of 33.3 million cubic feet per day in March 2021.
