According to the data of SunSirs, as of July 31, the price of bulk chloroform in Shandong was 2,062 RMB/ton, up 12 RMB/ton or 0.61% from 2,050 RMB/ton on last Monday. The price of raw methanol continued to rise in shock, and the cost support of chloroform was stronger than that in the early stage; In the later period, as the supply pressure of new units is expected to rise slightly, the chloroform market will be suppressed.

Analysis review

This week (7.24-7.31), some devices had slightly increased after restarting, and supply pressure is expected to increase again when Jiuhong's new devices are put into operation in the later stage.

The price of raw methanol rose slightly, and the cost focus of chloroform rose. According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, as of July 31st, the spot price of methanol was 2,280 RMB/ton, an increase of 3.09% from last Monday's 2,211 RMB/ton.

Recently, some downstream refrigerant R22 enterprises were shut down for maintenance, and the price was high. The demand for chloroform was limited. In addition, the total production quota of R22 was reduced by 19% to 181,800 tons in 2023. In the medium and long term, it is difficult to improve the demand support for chloroform.

Market outlook

According to the methane chloride data analysts of SunSirs, after the peak season, the demand for chloroform is generally weak, and the pressure on the supply side is expected to increase in the later period, but the methanol price is higher, and the cost side has support. It is expected that the chloroform market will fluctuate in a narrow range in the short term.
