According to Sina Finance, domestic sulfuric acid market prices are trending upward. As of now, the delivered price of 98% smelter acid in Guangxi ranges from 850 to 880 yuan per ton, while in Fujian, the delivered price for 98% smelter acid is between 890 and 960 yuan per ton. In Liaoning, the ex-factory price for 98% smelter acid stands at 960 to 1020 yuan per ton. Driven by continuous price hikes from major acid producers in Jiangxi and Hubei, bullish sentiment prevails among surrounding producers, with prices rising in Fujian and Liaoning.
Port sulfur prices continue to surge, approaching the peak levels seen in the first half of 2022. Due to reduced international sulfur production and limited domestic port arrivals, prices remain elevated. This has increased production costs for domestic sulfuric acid plants, tightening supply once again and boosting external procurement demand for smelting acid, leading to a tightening of sulfuric acid market supply. Sulfuric acid maintains its upward momentum, with downstream phosphate and compound fertilizer markets following suit. However, weak terminal demand for titanium dioxide limits cost-driven support, sustaining only essential demand.
Overall, sulfuric acid production costs remain excessively high, and downstream market conditions vary. Yet given current supply-demand dynamics, the sulfuric acid market is expected to continue its upward trajectory in the short term.
Market Outlook: Domestic sulfuric acid prices continue climbing as raw material costs remain elevated. Supported by rising costs and low acid plant inventories, tight supply will drive sustained price increases. Downstream demand from industries like phosphate fertilizers and titanium dioxide remains stable. Sulfuric acid production and sales are balanced with strong shipments. Maintenance at some acid plants and reduced operating rates due to tight raw material supplies further drive the market upward. Short-term sulfuric acid prices are expected to maintain a firm trend.
