According to foreign media reports, Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman of the Indian Iron and Steel Administration Company (SAIL), said on April 29 that SAIL will increase the output of all factories once the blockade period ends and the economy returns to normal.
Since the quarantine on March 25, SAIL's factory has basically maintained its usual 50% production level, and the company plans to increase it to 75% in the next stage.
Chaudhary said, "We will also follow the principle of on-demand production while improving operations. It is expected that market demand will show signs of improvement after the blockade period in India. We are ready to resume our normal work as long as circumstances permit."
In fiscal year 2019-2020 (April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020), this Indian state-owned enterprise produced 16.15 million tons of crude steel, which is the highest steel plant in India. SAIL's annual sales also reached a record high, reaching 14.5 million tons, an increase of 2.8% over the same period last year.
In March 25th, the Indian government announced the nationwide blockade measures for 21 days, and then extended the blockade order to May 3 because the epidemic situation did not alleviate.
