SunSirs: Vida International's Change of Owner Golden Eagle Group Strongly Enters the Asian Household Paper Industry
March 14 2024 16:03:08SunSirs(Selena)

On the evening of March 11th, Vida International announced that it had received an offer from EssityGH for approximately 621 million shares, accounting for approximately 51.59% of the company's issued share capital as of the date of this announcement, at 4:30 pm on Monday, March 11th, 2024. Therefore, the conditions of the offer have been met. This means that Asia Pacific Resources Group, a subsidiary of Singapore's Golden Eagle Group, has acquired Vidal International at a price of HKD 23.5 per share. All the prerequisite terms listed in the tender offer have been met, and the offer has been declared unconditional. At this point, it is declared that Vidal International has officially entered the era of "Golden Eagle".

According to the announcement, the total value of this acquisition is HKD 261,026 million, approximately USD 3.342 billion. This transaction is currently the largest equity transaction in the Chinese paper industry and may also become the largest acquisition case in the fast-moving consumer goods industry in the Asia Pacific region this year.

In the past two years, influenced by the prices of raw materials such as pulp, although Vida International still maintains the top position in the paper industry, its net profit is not ideal. At this time, Singapore Golden Eagle Group, which is a big spender, has also attracted industry attention for its next move. Industry insiders believe that with the help of Golden Eagle Group, Vida Group is expected to accelerate its expansion, and the fierce competition pattern maintained by the four major Chinese household paper families - Hengan Group (Xinxiangyin), Vida Paper (Vida), Jinhongye Paper (Qingfeng), and Zhongshun Jierou (Jierou) may change as a result.
