SunSirs: Under the Influence of Upstream Factors, the Price of Potassium Sulfate Had Fallen
January 22 2024 15:00:18SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of potassium sulfate with a 50% content at the beginning of this week was 3,510 RMB/ton, and the price of potassium sulfate with a 50% content at the end of this week was 3,500 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.28%.

Analysis review

The domestic market price of potassium sulfate continued to decline, mainly affected by the downward trend in the price of raw material potassium chloride. The price difference between potassium sulfate and potassium chloride was significant, and the operating rate of processing potassium sulfate manufacturers remained at a relatively high level, with an overall operating rate of around 70%. There was sufficient supply of goods, but downstream factories did not have sufficient procurement. A small number of water-soluble fertilizer factories demand raw materials, but the order volume was small. As of January 19th, the factory price of 52% Mannheim potassium sulfate powder was mostly between 3,200-3,600 RMB/ton.

The operating rate of downstream compound fertilizer factories had been significantly lower recently. Most factories had stated that there was no significant demand for raw material procurement before the year, and even with a small amount of order supplementation, the procurement volume was relatively limited. Overall, the operation was relatively cautious.

Market outlook

The domestic potassium fertilizer market as a whole had not received significant positive support, and market prices continued to decline. It is expected that the domestic potassium fertilizer market prices may experience a weak downward trend in the short term.
