SunSirs: China Pig Prices slightly Rebounded Last Week (December 11-15)
December 19 2023 14:02:45SunSirs(Selena)

According to the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the domestic and international prices of Sanyan live pigs slightly rebounded last week, with an average price of 14.10 RMB/kg at the beginning of the week and 14.48 RMB/kg at the end of the week, an increase of 2.70% during the week.

Entering December, the average price of live pigs in China has once again fallen to the 14 RMB/kg mark. As a result, farmers have become more hesitant to sell and raise prices. In addition, the recent sharp drop in domestic temperatures and snowfall in many areas have greatly increased the difficulty of transporting live pigs. The overall supply of the live pig market is tight, and the price increase and acquisition by slaughtering enterprises have driven the domestic live pig market prices to bottom out and continue to rise.

Last week, domestic corn prices continued to operate weakly, falling by 1.05% within the week, while soybean meal prices fluctuated downward, falling by 1.24% within the week. Overall, the cost of breeding and feeding continues to show a downward trend, with pig prices slightly rising and the domestic pig to grain ratio slightly recovering. Currently, the overall price has rebounded to around 5.6:1, and the loss situation in the breeding industry has been alleviated.

SunSirs pig product analyst believes that under the support of temporary supply constraints, there is still some room for price recovery in the domestic pig market in the short term.
