Secex said that from February 1 to 10, Brazil exported 1265996.9 tons of corn, which exceeded the 768396.6 tons exported in the whole month of February last year, because of strong demand from China.
The average daily corn export volume in the first two weeks of February was 158249.6 tons, far higher than the 40441.9 tons in February last year
The surge in corn exports was due to the bumper corn harvest in the second quarter of last year, the sharp increase in supply, and the additional demand from China.
China became the main buyer of Brazil's corn in January, importing nearly 1 million tons of corn, surpassing Japan, Iran and Spain and other traditional importers.
Brazil is expected to export 50 million tons of corn in 2022/23 (October to September of the next year), surpassing the United States to become the world's largest exporter of corn. The United States Department of Agriculture predicts that the United States will export about 48.9 million tons of corn in 2022/3 (September to August).
