SunSirs: TDI Market Weakened Down in May

According to data from SunSirs’ bulk list, the TDI price in East China was weak in May. The average TDI market price at the beginning of the month was 15,666.67 RMB/ton, and the average TDI price at the end of the month was 13,933.33 RMB/ton. Within the month, it was reduced by 1,733.34 RMB/ton, a decrease of 11.06%. As of the 31st, the reference price of domestic goods with invoices was around 13,400-13,500 RMB/ton, and the reference price of Shanghai goods with invoices was around 13,700 RMB/ton.

Analysis review

The TDI market continued to decline in May, the market was weak, the atmosphere in the market was weak, the enthusiasm for downstream inquiries was not high, there were fewer inquiries in the market, and only a small amount of just-needed downstream followed up. Holders’ offers continued to drop, and later offers remained stable. Buyers and sellers negotiated transactions. Dealers and companies quoted high and low prices. There was a strong wait-and-see atmosphere in the market. Downstream enthusiasm for entering the market was not high. Purchasing intentions were low and prices were stable with a downward trend.

The upstream toluene market rose first and then fell, with an overall increase of 1.81% during the month, and the average production price at the end of the month was 5,800.20 RMB/ton. In late May, the downstream news of toluene was weak, and the market transactions were average. The supply of toluene in Europe increased, and demand in India was weak due to the epidemic. The downstream follow-up was weak, the domestic market and spot market demand were weak, the market lacked guidance, and the market weakened slightly.
