Macroeconomics

1. [Foreign Exchange Reserves] According to statistics from the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, as of the end of January 2026, my country's foreign exchange reserves amounted to US$3,399.1 billion, an increase of US$41.2 billion compared to the end of December 2025, representing a growth of 1.23%.

2. [Excavators] According to statistics from the China Construction Machinery Association on major excavator manufacturers, 18,708 excavators of various types were sold in January 2026, a year-on-year increase of 49.5%. Of these, domestic sales totaled 8,723 units (including 24 electric excavators), a year-on-year increase of 61.4%; exports totaled 9,985 units (including 11 electric excavators), a year-on-year increase of 40.5%.

3. [University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index] The preliminary reading of the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index for February in the United States was 57.3, the highest level in six months. At the same time, the 1-year inflation expectation fell to 3.5%, the lowest level in a year.

Energy

1. [Crude Oil] On February 6, international crude oil futures rose. The settlement price of the March contract for US WTI crude oil futures was US$63.55 per barrel, an increase of US$0.26 or 0.4%. The settlement price of the April contract for Brent crude oil futures was US$68.05 per barrel, an increase of US$0.50 or 0.7%.

2. [Crude Oil] On February 6, US energy services company Baker Hughes reported that the number of active oil and gas drilling rigs in the United States increased for the third consecutive week. As of the week ending February 6, the total number of oil and gas rigs in the United States increased by 5 to 551, the highest level since November 2025.

3. [Crude Oil] European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Commission has proposed a new set of sanctions against Russia, including a complete ban on providing maritime services for Russian oil exports.

4. [Crude Oil] On February 6, The Hindu newspaper, citing data from the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, reported that in December 2025, Russia's oil exports to India accounted for less than 25% of India's total imports, down from 34% in November, the lowest level in 38 months. 5. [Crude Oil] On February 5th, data released by the Brazilian government showed that the country exported 10.57 million tons of crude oil in January, the highest monthly export volume since March 2023, representing a 13.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
