SunSirs: The Overall Maleic Anhydride Market Fell Slightly in Mid-September

According to the commodity analysis system of SunSirs, the domestic maleic anhydride market fell slightly in mid-September. As of September 21, the average market price of maleic anhydride produced by n-butane oxidation remained at 5,625.00 RMB/ton, down 0.22% from 5,637.50 RMB/ton on September 11.

Analysis review

On the supply side, maleic anhydride prices saw a slight decline in mid-September. Early auctions in Yantai were sluggish, leading to a continued decline in prices. Recently, some manufacturers have implemented sales restrictions, leading to some price increases for maleic anhydride manufacturers, but overall supplier prices remained stable. Binzhou Dayou Maleic Anhydride production had resumed. As of September 21, downstream unsaturated resin manufacturers were maintaining inventory to meet demand and were generally taking a wait-and-see approach. As of September 21st, the ex-factory price of maleic anhydride in Shandong Province was around 5,300 RMB/ton for solid maleic anhydride and 4,700 RMB/ton for liquid maleic anhydride.

On the upstream side: The overall n-butane market rose in mid-September. As of September 21, the price in Shandong was around 4,550 RMB/ton.

Downstream: As of September 21, the unsaturated resin market was mainly stable. The unsaturated resin supply was sufficient, and the downstream transactions were general. The support for unsaturated resin was limited, and the market conditions were weak.

Market outlook

Analysts of maleic anhydride products from SunSirs believe that as of September 21, the market conditions for unsaturated resins, the main downstream product of maleic anhydride, were weak, and purchases of maleic anhydride were limited; maleic anhydride manufacturers were operating with
