According to the SunSirs commodity market analysis system, the domestic MDI market saw a slight decline from August 18th to 22nd, with the average price at the start of the week reaching 15,683 RMB/ton and the weekend price reaching 15,633 RMB/ton, a 0.32% decrease over the week and a 9.72% year-on-year decline. Factory operations remained stable during the week, and traders followed market trends. Inquiries were few, and the trading atmosphere was subdued.
Analysis review
On the supply side, Totsoo Ruian's 80,000 ton/year MDI unit began maintenance on July 23rd, with an expected duration of approximately 35 days.
On the cost side, benzene prices fluctuated slightly last week. As the month-end approaching, downstream procurement was nearing its end, increasing pressure on intermediaries to ship goods, leading to a downward trend in transaction volume. Overall, increased imports and the commissioning of new production capacity had weakened demand, leading to weak fundamentals and limited growth in the benzene market. Aniline prices remained stable.
On the demand side, downstream demand was general, the trading atmosphere was cold, and transactions were mainly small orders.
Future outlook:
As the end of the month approaching, the settlement prices of major manufacturers were about to be released. The market awaited more news guidance. It is expected that the MDI market will fluctuate narrowly in the short term.
