According to SunSirs’ commodity market analysis system, the domestic MDI market saw a slight decline from August 11th to 15th, with the average price at the start of the week reaching 15,800 RMB/ton and the weekend price reaching 157,160 RMB/ton, a 0.53% decrease over the week and a 9.24% year-on-year decline. Factory operations remains stable during the week, leading to a slight easing of market transaction prices. Trading activity is generally average, with small orders predominant. With no significant news updates, the MDI market fluctuates within a narrow range, driven by supply and demand.
Analysis review
On the supply side, Totsoo Ruian's 80,000 ton/year MDI unit began maintenance on July 23rd, with an expected duration of approximately 35 days.
On the cost side, raw material benzene prices have recently seen a slight increase, while aniline prices have remained stable this week, with limited impact on polymeric MDI.
On the demand side, downstream demand is general, the trading atmosphere is cold, and transactions are mainly small orders.
Market outlook
The current transaction price of the MDI market is loosening and the center is moving downward. In the absence of obvious positive news to boost the market, it is expected that the MDI market will fluctuate narrowly in the short term.
