According to the China Sugar Industry Association, a total of 9.9632 million tons of sugar will be produced nationwide during the 2023/2024 sugar production period, an increase of 990,000 tons or 11.03% year-on-year. As of the end of July, the cumulative sales of sugar in China reached 8.2514 million tons, an increase of 866,800 tons year-on-year, with a growth rate of 11.74%.

According to foreign media, the Indian Sugar Association (ISMA) expects domestic sugar consumption in India to be 29 million tons in 2024/2025, with inventory reaching 13.35 million tons by the end of September 30, 2025. The ISMA urges the government to lift restrictions on sugar exports, citing that domestic sugar supply can meet domestic consumption and ethanol production needs.
