SunSirs: China Sugar Prices Fell in June
June 30 2025 13:53:21     SunSirs (Selena)According to the monitoring of the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the average price of first grade white sugar in China was 6,130 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month, and 6,050 RMB/ton at the end of the month, with a price drop of 1.31%.
Domestically, some sugar companies in Guangxi have announced the clearance of inventory and ended the sales of this crushing season ahead of schedule. The sugar production in Guangxi during the 2024/25 crushing season increased by 4.59% year-on-year to 6.465 million tons. As of the end of May, the industrial inventory was 1.8197 million tons, a decrease of 253,500 tons year-on-year. The import volume of sugar in May was 350,000 tons. China's sugar imports from January to May were 630,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 50.1%.
Internationally, in the second half of May, the sugarcane input in the central and southern regions of Brazil was 47.842 million tons, an increase of 2.482 million tons compared to the same period last year's 45.36 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.47%. India's new crushing season production is expected to reach 35 million tons, and Thailand's production increase is gradually landing. The pressure on global raw sugar supply continues to accumulate.
With the increasingly hot weather in China, the consumption of cold drinks in summer has started, which may further promote inventory reduction. However, the subsequent increase in imports to ports may affect the digestion rhythm of domestic sugar. It is expected that the price of white sugar will mainly fluctuate and strengthen in the short term.
