SunSirs: China Waste Paper and Corrugated Paper have slightly declined, with Short-term Low Volatility

According to the monitoring of the Commodity Market Analysis System of SunSirs, the price of waste paper in Zhejiang Province decreased slightly last week. On August 4th, the average purchase price of A-grade waste yellow cardboard in Zhejiang Province was 1,504 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.53% compared to the average price of 1,512 RMB/ton on July 30th. The price of corrugated paper continues to decline. On August 4th, the average ex factory price of 140g corrugated base paper was 2,660 RMB/ton, a decrease of 0.38% compared to the average price of 2,650 RMB/ton on July 30th.

By observing market changes, it can be seen that the domestic waste paper market stabilized slightly last week, with prices slightly declining. At the beginning of the week, although some regional paper mills experienced an increase in waste paper prices, the overall market trend still showed a downward trend. Due to weak demand in downstream markets and the impact of typhoons in many places, the packaging station has been actively shipping waste paper, but the paper factory has high inventory and the purchase of waste paper is still in a poor state, resulting in a decrease in waste paper prices.

The price of corrugated base paper continued to decline last week, and last week, leading paper mills made new adjustments to the base paper price, continuing the recent downward trend. At present, the packaging demand in the entire market is still tepid or even flat. Due to the contraction of exports and the sluggish real estate market, retail sales growth has slowed down, and domestic industrial activity has weakened. In addition, the continuous decline in raw material waste paper has put pressure on the price of corrugated paper.

Paper analysts from SunSirs believe that the prices of waste paper and corrugated paper are currently in a weak downward trend, and the market's purchasing willingness is still poor. Due to the impact of rainy weather, paper mills are basically in a state of just in need of restocking, and it is expected that the prices of waste paper and corrugated base paper will continue to fluctuate at a low level in the short term.
