SunSirs: In February 2023, Malaysia's Natural Rubber Production Continued to Decline Year-on-year

According to the Malaysian Bureau of Statistics on April 12, the export volume of natural rubber in February 2023 increased by 2.1% year-on-year to 48,393 tons, an increase of 18.4% month-on-month. Among them, 56.9% were exported to China, followed by Germany 7.3%, Turkey 3.6%, the United States 2.1%, and Egypt 1.5%.

In February, Malaysia imported 92,862 tons of natural rubber, down 16.7% year-on-year and 15% month-on-month. Standard rubber, concentrated latex, and natural rubber in other shapes are the main import categories, and their main import sources are Thailand, Côte d'Ivoire, the Philippines, and Myanmar.

The total output of natural rubber that can be monitored in February was 27,209 tons, down 2.7% year-on-year and 7.6% month-on-month. Among them, the production of small gardens accounted for 87.3%, and the production of state-owned plantations accounted for 12.7%.

In February, Malaysia's natural rubber inventory was 191,636 tons, down 1.5% month-on-month and 41% year-on-year. Among them, 90.6% of the inventory is concentrated in the hands of rubber processors, the downstream terminal inventory accounts for 9.3%, and the inventory of large planters accounts for 0.1%.

In February, the total domestic natural rubber consumption decreased by 29.5% year-on-year to 28,274 tons, an increase of 1.6% month-on-month. The latex glove industry is still the main force of natural rubber consumption in Malaysia, accounting for 70% of consumption, tire and hose consumption accounted for 8.9%, rubber thread accounted for 9.5%, and other industries accounted for 11.6%.
