Exports

According to China Customs statistics, China exported a total of 3.41 million tons of various fertilizers in December 2025. Among these, urea accounted for 278,000 tons, ammonium sulfate for 1.997 million tons, diammonium phosphate for 156,000 tons, and monoammonium phosphate for 97,000 tons.

From January to December 2025, China's cumulative fertilizer exports reached 46.27 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 44%. The cumulative export value amounted to US$13.755 billion, up 57.9% year-on-year. Specifically: cumulative exports of diammonium phosphate reached 3.48 million tons, down 23.8% year-on-year; cumulative exports of monoammonium phosphate reached 1.88 million tons, down 6.3% year-on-year.

Converted to pure nutrients, China's cumulative exports of urea, ammonium sulfate, and ammonium phosphate from January to December amounted to 10.09 million tons of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.

Imports

Regarding imports, 1.58 million tons of various fertilizers were imported in December 2025. Among these, 1.46 million tons of potassium chloride and 75,000 tons of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium ternary compound fertilizers were imported.

From January to December, cumulative imports of potassium chloride reached 12.61 million tons, representing a year-on-year decrease of 0.1%. Cumulative imports of NPK ternary compound fertilizers totaled 1.17 million tons, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 4.5%.

Converted to nutrients, the cumulative imports of potassium chloride and triple compound fertilizers from January to December amounted to 8.128 million tons of pure NPK nutrients.

From January to December, China's major grain and oil crops (cereals, legumes, and vegetable oils) required 8.285 million tons of pure nutrients from implicitly imported fertilizers, representing an 8.8% year-on-year decrease.
