SunSirs: Demand Improved, CPL Rose Slightly (August 17-25)
August 27 2020 08:16:05SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to data from SunSirs’ bulk list, domestic CPL prices rose slightly this week. The average ex-factory price of CPL on August 17 was 9,416 RMB/ton, and the average ex-factory price on August 23 was 9,450 RMB/ton, an increase of 0.35%.

Analysis review

CPL prices rose slightly this week, and the operating rate of enterprises was 79%. As of August 23, the price of Shandong Luxi Chemical's liquid CPL was 9,000 RMB/ton, with cash leaving the factory, and the manufacturer’s production capacity was 300,000 tons. The actual transaction can be discussed. The price of Nanjing Dongfang Liquid CPL was 9,950 RMB/ton, the 400,000 tons/year plant was operating normally, and the CPL plant was operating normally. The price of Baling Hengyi liquid CPL was 9,700 RMB/ton, and the 450,000 tons/year plant was in normal operation and delivered by acceptance. Baling Petrochemical's liquid CPL price was 9,700 RMB/ton, and the 300,000 tons/year plant was in normal operation and delivered by acceptance.

This week, the raw material pure benzene fell significantly in the north, and the restart of the downstream maintenance equipment was delayed, which put pressure on the supply and demand in the north. The listing price of pure benzene in North China of Sinopec has been lowered by 100 RMB/ton, and no adjustment has been made in the rest of the region. The market was waiting for Sinopec’s price guidance. This week, pure benzene port stocks were still high, but the unloading pressure was reduced.

Market outlook

The CPL analyst of SunSirs believes that the price of raw material pure benzene began to fall this week after rising, and the cost support is insufficient. The downstream demand has slightly improved, and CPL companies support the prices. It is expected that the price of CPL will mainly run at a low level in the short term.
