On February 5, the China Iron and Steel Association released its monthly report on steel production by key enterprises for late January 2026. The report indicated that during this period, major steel producers collectively manufactured 21.28 million tons of crude steel, averaging 1.935 million tons per day—a 2.2% daily decrease compared to the previous period. Pig iron output reached 19.15 million tons, averaging 1.741 million tons daily, representing a 3.0% daily decline. Steel products totaled 21.3 million tons, averaging 1.936 million tons per day, a 3.2% increase from the previous period.
Based on these figures, national daily crude steel output for the period was estimated at 2.39 million tons (down 2.2% month-on-month), daily pig iron output at 2.10 million tons (down 3.0%), and daily steel product output at 3.98 million tons (up 1.3%).
