On October 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that at the request of both China and the United States, President Xi Jinping will meet with U.S. President Trump in Busan, South Korea, at local time on October 30 to exchange views on Sino-U.S. relations and issues of common concern.
This will be the first face-to-face meeting between the two countries' leaders since Trump's return to the White House. The two leaders have had three phone calls this year. Sino-US relations are of great concern to the world. A healthy, stable and sustainable bilateral relationship is in the long-term interests of the two countries and is also a common expectation of the international community. At present, all parties are closely watching whether the two sides can effectively curb the "trade war" triggered by Trump's wide range of tariffs, and send a positive signal to the world.
