According to the commodity market analysis system of SunSirs, the price of polyamide filament fell weakly last week (July 21-27, 2025). As of July 27, 2025, the price of polyamide filament DTY (superior product; 70D/24F) in Jiangsu Province was 14,320 RMB/ton, down 140 RMB/ton from the previous period, a weekly decline of 0.97%; polyamide POY (superior product; 86D/24F) was 12,050 RMB/ton, down 150 RMB/ton from the previous period, a weekly decline of 1.23%; polyamide FDY (superior product: 40D/12F) was 14,900 RMB/ton, down 150 RMB/ton from the previous period, a weekly decline of 1.00%.

Analysis review

Last week (July 21-27, 2025), Sinopec's high-end caprolactam, an upstream raw material for polyamide filament, announced a weekly price reduction. The PA6 chip market was weak and stalemate, and prices continued to fall slightly. Support on the cost side weakened. Downstream companies mostly maintained rigid orders, and the demand side did not improve. The trading activity in the market was poor, and the market price of polyamide filament declined weakly.

Insufficient support on the raw material side

Cost: Last week (July 21-27, 2025), the spot market price of caprolactam was weak. Sinopec's weekly caprolactam settlement price was 9,050 RMB/ton (six-month acceptance interest-free), down 45 RMB/ton from the previous period. The market price of polyamide PA6 chips was mainly weak and stagnant, and the cost side was insufficient. As of July 27, 2025, the base price of caprolactam in SunSirs was 8,950 RMB/ton, and the price was mainly weak. The market price of polyamide PA6 chips and high-speed spinning chips fell slightly during the week, with a weekly decline of 0.96%, and the cost side was mainly weak.

Supply and demand: The operating rates of some polyamide filament manufacturers were reduced during the week, and the overall market supply declined, but the industry's inventory level continued to increase, and the supply side performed poorly; the terminal market demand was weak, and some downstream manufacturers reduced or switched production, which reduced the demand for polyamide filament. It was difficult to find favorable support on the demand side, and most of the operators maintained a cautious wait-and-see attitude.

Future outlook:

Cost side: For caprolactam, benzene is expected to be weaker, and chip manufacturers were not very enthusiastic about purchasing caprolactam. It is expected that the caprolactam market will be mainly weakly consolidated at low levels next week; for PA6 chips, the cost support is limited, the supply level of PA6 chips market may continue to increase, and the downstream market demand is weak. It is expected that the market price of polyamide PA6 chips will fall weakly.

Supply and demand: July is the traditional off-season for market demand. In addition, there was no sign of improvement in the terminal market demand, and the downstream market purchasing enthusiasm was not high. Therefore, it is expected that the market demand for polyamide filaments will decrease next month. If the demand does not improve significantly, under the pressure of large inventory, some polyamide filament manufacturers may reduce their equipment load. At the same time, the industry's new production capacity continues to be released, so it is expected that the market supply of polyamide filaments will decrease next month.

On the whole, both the spot market of upstream raw material caprolactam and the market of polyamide PA6 chips are likely to continue to fall. The cost side lacks support, and the demand in the downstream market is unlikely to improve. The demand side is dragging down the market trend. Under these two negative factors, analysts of SunSirs predict that the market price of polyamide filament will be mainly weakly consolidated in the short term.
