SunSirs: Supply Increased, and N-Butanol Market Was Experiencing a Downward Trend (January 10-16)
January 18 2024 11:36:27SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to monitoring data from SunSirs, as of January 16, 2023, the reference price of n-butanol in Shandong Province, China was 8,650 RMB/ton. Compared with January 10 (reference price of n-butanol was 8,966 RMB/ton), the price increased by 316 RMB/ton, a decrease of 3.53%.

Analysis review

From the monitoring chart of SunSirs data, it can be seen that as entering this week, the domestic n-butanol market in Shandong Province had shown a weak downward trend. This week, some regions in China had gradually resumed operation of n-butanol plants, and the overall supply of n-butanol plants had increased. The support provided by the supply side to the n-butanol market had weakened. Downstream demand for n-butanol was mostly manifested as rigid demand stocking, and the contradiction between n-butanol supply and demand had become apparent. Therefore, some factories were under pressure to reduce the shipment price of n-butanol, with a cumulative reduction of 200-400 RMB/ton in two days. As of January 16th, the domestic market price of n-butanol in Shandong region was around 8,600-8,700 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

As of January 16th, the trading atmosphere on the n-butanol market was average, with new orders mainly being small orders in demand. The transmission of supply and demand on the market was relatively slow, and some factories actively shipped to ensure low inventory. SunSirs' n-butanol data analyst predicts that in the short term, the domestic n-butanol market will mostly narrowly adjusted its trading behavior. The trend still needs to pay more attention to changes in supply and demand news.
