SunSirs: Weak Demand, N-Butanol Prices Weakly Declined
November 21 2025 08:48:00SunSirs(John)

Price trend

According to data from the SunSirs' commodity market analysis system, as of November 20, 2025, the reference price of n-butanol in Shandong, China, was 5,066 RMB/ton, a decrease of 67 RMB/ton or 1.27% compared to November 16 (when the reference price was 5,150 RMB/ton).

Insufficient support, Shandong n-butanol prices continued to decline this week

According to the SunSirs' commodity market analysis system, the domestic Shandong n-butanol market continued its downward trend this week. During the week, some factories in Shandong further lowered their n-butanol ex-factory prices, with reductions ranging from 50-100 RMB/ton. The overall focus of n-butanol negotiations leaned towards lower levels. As of November 20th, the Shandong n-butanol market price was around 5,050-5,100 RMB/ton.

Market Factor Analysis

On the demand side: This week, overall demand for n-butanol was weak, with a decrease in overall downstream operating rates. Consequently, the purchase of n-butanol as a raw material also declined. Downstream buyers mostly purchased on dips, exhibiting a wait-and-see attitude and cautious overall operations. Demand provided insufficient support for n-butanol prices.

On the supply side: As of November 20, the overall supply of n-butanol was relatively loose, with most suppliers maintaining active shipments, and the support provided by the supply side for n-butanol was also easing.

Market outlook

As of November 20, the trading atmosphere in the Shandong n-butanol market was sluggish. Recently, the rising price of propylene, a raw material, had brought some cost pressure to n-butanol. According to data analysts from SunSirs, the Shandong n-butanol market is expected to mainly consolidate within a narrow range in the short term. Further attention should be paid to changes in supply and demand.
