On February 1, 2023, the United States Department of Commerce issued an announcement to launch the fourth anti-dumping sunset review investigation on pure granular magnesium imported from China. At the same time, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) launched the fourth antidumping sunset review industrial injury investigation on granulated pure magnesium imported from China to examine whether the substantial injury caused by the import of the products involved to the domestic industry of the United States will continue or recur within a reasonably foreseeable period if the antidumping measures are cancelled. Stakeholders shall register with the United States Department of Commerce within 10 days from the date of this announcement. Stakeholders should submit their replies to the United States International Trade Commission before March 3, 2023, and submit comments to the United States International Trade Commission on the adequacy of the replies to the case no later than April 13, 2023.

On November 14, 2000, the United States conducted an anti-dumping investigation on the granular pure magnesium imported from Israel, the Russian Federation and China. On September 27, 2001, the United States made the final anti-dumping decision against China's granulated pure magnesium. On November 19, 2001, the United States Department of Commerce formally imposed anti-dumping duties on China's granulated pure magnesium. Since then, the United States has conducted three sunset reviews and extended the tax period three times on March 26, 2007, October 17, 2012 and March 12, 2018 respectively.
