Since October, the price of chloroform has risen sharply. According to the data monitoring of SunSirs, the market price of chloroform was 5,625 RMB/ton as of October 21, an increase of 34.33% from the price of 4,187 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month.

Analysis review

After the return of the National Day, the price of dichloromethane rose sharply, and the price of chloroform lags slightly behind. However, recently, with the sharp increase in the price of one of the raw materials, liquid chlorine, the price of chloroform has gradually increased, and it has also broken through the previous high. According to SunSirs, since October, the low start of Hou's operation and the tight supply of liquid chlorine have driven the price of liquid chlorine to rise sharply. The mainstream ex-factory price of liquid chlorine for tank trucks in Shandong increased from around 1,700 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month to near 4,100 RMB/ton on October 21, an increase of 141.18%.

Similarly, the domestic methane chloride plant is still operating at a low level, and the supply of chloroform itself is also tight. The tight supply of raw materials and chloroform itself has intensified the momentum of the price increase of chloroform.

Since October, the price of methanol has also risen. Although the price of methanol has been adjusted recently, its price is still high, and the cost continues to support the face of chloroform. According to SunSirs, as of October 21, the price of methanol was 4,000 RMB/ton, an increase of 10.74% from the price of 3,612 RMB/ton at the beginning of the month.

The downstream refrigerants are generally sold, and the prices have risen sharply, which slightly supports the chloroform.

Market outlook

The methane chloride data analyst of SunSirs believes that on the one hand, the methane chloride plant starts at a low level, coupled with the strong support of the cost side, it is expected that the chloroform market will continue to remain high in the short term.
