SunSirs: Lithium Hydroxide Market Was Operating Stably in Early September

In early September, the lithium hydroxide market was operating stably. According to the data of SunSirs’ bulk list, as of September 10, the average price of domestic industrial-grade lithium hydroxide enterprises was 54,666.67 RMB/ton, which was flat compared with September 1, and fell 4.09% in a half-year cycle.

Analysis review   

In the first ten days of September, the sales of large lithium hydroxide factories were stable, and the transactions of other small and medium-sized enterprises were relatively ordinary, and the market was mainly running smoothly.

According to customs statistics, China imported 3.20 tons of lithium hydroxide in July 2020, and the import value that month was about 60,000 US dollars, and the average import price of that month was 18,797.13 US dollars/ton; China’s lithium hydroxide exports in July 2020 were 3,694.45 tons. The export value of the month was about 35.86 million US dollars, and the average export price of the month was 9,696.21 US dollars/ton.

Upstream lithium carbonate, according to the data monitoring of SunSirs: on September 10, the overall price of lithium carbonate fell slightly, while the quoted prices of enterprises went up and down. On September 10, the average price of industrial-grade lithium carbonate in East China was 38,900 RMB/ton, a decrease of 2.75% from the beginning of the week (the average price of industrial-grade lithium carbonate in East China was 40,000 RMB/ton on September 7). On October 10, the average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate in East China was 43,900 RMB/ton, which was a drop of 2.23% compared with the beginning of the week (the average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate in East China was 44,900 RMB/ton on September 7). On the 10th, the mainstream quotation in the industrial-grade lithium carbonate market was around 35,000~40,000 RMB/ton, and the mainstream quotation in the battery-grade lithium carbonate market was around 40,000~45,000 RMB/ton.

Market outlook

Lithium hydroxide analysts of SunSirs believe that the demand for lithium hydroxide is gradually recovering, and it is expected that the industrial-grade lithium hydroxide market will operate stably in the short term.
